About Bellingham FilmBellingham Film was created by Avielle Heath to bring the film community together. The film community of Bellingham and the surrounding area has grown dramatically over the last five years. Starting with only a few production companies, we now represent a flourishing industry with a wide selection of production companies and DIY filmmakers.
With this increased interest comes the potential for a financially-thriving film industry here in our own back yards. To be financially viable, we must work together to create the opportunities we most desire. The Bellingham Film is committed to making this a reality. "Bellingham Film Festivals' goal is to enrich the arts and bring the film community together." Objectives:
Since the creation of Bellingham Film Festivals in 2012, we have been able to link with key organizations to obtain our goals. We have partnered with the Washington State Studio Network to help with distribution of content produced in Washington State. The Pickford Film Center in Bellingham, WA and The Black Box Theatre in Endmonds, WA have provided their venues for Film Festivals and Showcases that are associated with Bellingham Film Festivals. We have also worked with local filmmakers to organize a yearly horror film festival, Bleedingham. Our 2012 event was a great success. We received more submissions that we had originally planned for and sold out our opening night. After building the foundation of the festival format and working with the film makers in 2012, Bellingham Film Festivals has handed the reigns of the festival to local filmmakers and is playing an advisory role in the planning for Bleedingham 2013. In early 2013 Bellingham Film Festivals has linked with Washington State Studio Network to bring quarterly film showcases to local theaters across the state of Washington. All showcases will feature work from Washington State filmmakers. Along with planning festivals and showcases Bellingham Film Festivals has been working with other organizations like UWTV Channel 27, the Alpine Club and 5 Point Film Festival to find content for their programs. 2012 was a great year for Bellingham Film Festivals and 2013 seems even more promising. We have been able to connect with many local organizations, professional and amateur film makers, web developers, and graphic designers to make this dream a reality. Thank you to all of our sponsors and supporters. |
